ABOUT BRUFMA


The British Rigid Urethane Foam Manufacturers' Association (BRUFMA) is the representative body for the Rigid Polyurethane (PUR) and Polyisocyanurate (PIR) Foam Industry in the United Kingdom. Its membership comprises the major companies in the industry, both manufacturers of finished polyurethane (PUR) and polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam products, suppliers of the various raw materials and machinery manufacturers.

The Association was formed in 1967 and was incorporated as a Limited Company by Guarantee, having no Share Capital, on 18th May 1978.

NOTE. The terms polyurethane and urethane are synonymous.

BRUFMA's main aims are to:

  • to influence UK and local Government, specifying authorities, relevant approval and certification bodies appropriate to the UK and international polyurethane industry;

  • to publicise the unique benefits offered by rigid PIR/PUR insulation products and by members' products in particular;

  • to act as an authoritative information source about rigid PIR/PUR insulation products for specifiers and users;

  • to influence the development and improvement of European and British Standards and codes of practice in order to promote the beneficial use of members' products;

  • to influence European policy and input technically through the Federation of European National Polyurethane Rigid Foam Associations (BING).
