INSULATION FOR PIPES
Polyurethane (PUR) and polyisocyanurate (PIR) rigid
insulation when used on pipework offers one of the thinnest solutions
available as a result of its superior thermal performance.
Man-made-mineral-fibre (MMMF) is susceptible to water penetration, this can have a severe affect on its thermal performance. PUR/PIR insulation is resistant, as a result of its closed cell structure, to moisture penetration. Consequently the thermal performance of PUR/PIR is retained even under the most severe operating conditions.
Benefits of PUR/PIR insulation for pipework:
- Provides excellent thermal performance;
- High strength to weight ratio;
- Constant thermal performance;
- Enhanced compressive and tensile strengths at cryogenic temperatures make it resistant to cracking;
- Eliminates the risk of water penetration;
- Resistant to moisture ingress;
- Non-fibrous and does not emit harmful emissions;
- Resistant to fungus, mould and does not sustain vermin;
- Used extensively in the LNG and Petrochemical industries.
