INSULATION FOR PIPES

Insulation for PipesPolyurethane (PUR) and polyisocyanurate (PIR) rigid insulation when used on pipework offers one of the thinnest solutions available as a result of its superior thermal performance.

Man-made-mineral-fibre (MMMF) is susceptible to water penetration, this can have a severe affect on its thermal performance. PUR/PIR insulation is resistant, as a result of its closed cell structure, to moisture penetration. Consequently the thermal performance of PUR/PIR is retained even under the most severe operating conditions.

Benefits of PUR/PIR insulation for pipework:

  • Provides excellent thermal performance;
  • High strength to weight ratio;
  • Constant thermal performance;
  • Enhanced compressive and tensile strengths at cryogenic temperatures make it resistant to cracking;
  • Eliminates the risk of water penetration;
  • Resistant to moisture ingress;
  • Non-fibrous and does not emit harmful emissions;
  • Resistant to fungus, mould and does not sustain vermin;
  • Used extensively in the LNG and Petrochemical industries.
