METAL FACED PANELS
PIR (polyisocyanurate) insulated panels are one of the most versatile forms of lightweight construction, combining design flexibility with high performance and factory in-built quality.

Insulated panels are now the most widely used cladding system. In addition to traditional industrial and warehouse projects, panels are now regularly specified for buildings in the retail, distribution, leisure, commercial, chill and cold stores and transport and energy sectors, as well as for hospitals, schools and apartments/single living accommodation. PIR cored panels are also used as internal walls, ceilings and linings as well as for the external envelope.
Ease of installation and energy saving features resulting in accelerated payback are the principle reasons why insulated panels are one of the main products used in the refurbishment of existing buildings, helping to bring them up to current energy and airtightness standards.
Built-in benefits make insulated panels one of the 'lowest risk' construction products minimising installation and workmanship risks. Panels are delivered with thermal performance built-in and guaranteed. Engineered joints ensure the best airtightness and the whole cladding system involves one-piece construction offering high speed of construction with guaranteed quality.

Fire Performance and Insurance

Recent research shows that PIR panels have an excellent track record in real fire scenarios. Independent case studies have demonstrated that there is no fire propagation and minimal smoke emission and that panels can play a key role in fire containment - see www.epic.uk.com or contact EPIC for research summaries and Fire Case Histories.
Panels meet the Building Regulations for surface spread of flame and fire penetration. PIR product specifications satisfy the certification requirements of LPC [LPS 1181] and Factory Mutual [FM 4881] - see individual manufacturers for details. Panel systems approved by LPCB to LPS 1181 can be classified as 'non-combustible building' according to the Association of British Insurers (ABI).
